Description
This course is a study of the nature of criminal law: philosophy and historical
developments, major definitions and concepts, classification of crime, elements of crimes and penalties using Texas Statutes as illustrations, and justifications of
and defenses to criminal responsibility. Criminal procedure will also address:
prosecution, right to counsel, pre-trial release, grand juries, the adjudication
process, types and rules of evidence, and sentencing.
