Description
This course helps students gain understanding, experience, and skill in scientific, technical, and business communication. They learn basic theories of scientific and technical writing and explore how to use logic, arrangement, and style in writing
for various scientific and technical audiences. Major writing assignments, class
discussions, and other coursework introduce students to principles and contexts of specific types of scientific, technical, and professional documents. Genres might
include research proposals, research reports, lab reports, professional resumes, andjob application letters. Assignments model real-world scientific and professional
writing and include team projects and oral presentations. The course reinforces
general principles of good writing. Students will assess, revise, and edit their ownwriting. By the end of the course, students should have the ability to write clearlyand succinctly on technical subjects.
